6 months!

Owen had his half birthday yesterday and we celebrated by going to the doctor. My little man weighs 16 pounds 1 ounce (25%), is 26 1/2 inches long (75%) and his head is 44 1/4 cm around (50-75%). He did great with the doctor and even had an eye test which he passed. He also had to get 3 shots. He did not cry at the first one but the other two must have hurt. He only cried for about 30 seconds and then he was back to looking around the room at the fish.

Here are some of the things Owen is doing at this age:
  • Says ba-ba, da-da, mum-mum, gee, boop, gert
  • Can roll both ways and likes to do it multiple times in a row
  • Tries to crawl but ends up looking like an inch worm
  • Loves to kick and always has his feet on something
  • Giggles when he sees someone he knows
  • Follows Bert around the room and recognizes his name
  • Makes frog noises when he gets excited
  • Eats sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, pears, apples, rice, oatmeal and barley cereal
  • Will start eating peas, green beans, avocado, bananas and peaches
  • Grabs toys with both hands and puts everything in his mouth
  • Has his two bottom teeth
  • Sleeps 9-10 hours a night and naps 3-4 hours during the day
  • Wakes up happy, talking to himself and kicking his crib
  • Pulls our water cup into his mouth and tries to drink
  • Can sit on his own for a few seconds but he doesn't want to sit still. He wants to move!

Sneak peek of Owen's Easter photos. We only got a few good ones because I think this was the start of him not feeling well. He wanted nothing to do with Kim or the camera. She has such cute props set up but he cried on everything except the bench. It was all I could do to get him to smile for a few pictures. More to come!

Sick Baby

Erik went out of town early Thursday morning with the high school team for soccer. Owen and I decided to head up to the lake Wednesday night to see the Grands. Owen had been very congested starting on Sunday of last week. Well, it got worse. He decided not to sleep much the entire time we were at the lake. And then I got sick as well so I was miserable. Up all night with him, aching body, sore throat and a cough. No fun. We managed to squeeze in a few rides in the new pontoon boat and I rode the new jet ski. It will be great when the water is not so cold. We had fun with my parents and I was thankful they were there to help me take care of a sick child. He is getting better and starting to sleep through the night again. Thankfully!

Can you tell he doesn't feel well? I love the drool hanging off his chin.

Bert wanted to come with us. The new jet ski is super fun!

Trying to Crawl

Owen so enjoys grabbing his feet, pulling off his socks and chewing on his toes. Just one more thing he can put into his mouth. He is also trying so hard to crawl. He will lay on his stomach and pull his legs under him so he is on his knees. Then he kind of pulls himself with his arms so he moves forward, almost like an inch worm. It is so cute to watch and hear him grunt because he is trying so hard.

Play Time with Daddy

Erik doesn't get to see Owen much during the week. He usually leaves before Owen wakes up and then gets home in time to bathe him or as I am putting him down. I know everyone has not liked the rain this week but we like when it rains at our house. Erik doesn't have soccer so he gets to spend time with us. Owen was super excited that he got to play with his Daddy this week.
