Squealing

Owen makes me giggle every time he makes this noise. He is starting to laugh now too which is just the sweetest sound. Love him!

Sitting Up

The past few days, Owen has tried to sit himself up. While sitting in his bouncer, he tightens his stomach and lifts his head up off the back. It is kind of strange looking (almost like a crunch) and scary at the same time. I worry that he will flop over the side even though I have him strapped in. When I dropped him off at daycare this morning, I laid him down on the mat on a boppy. He tried to sit up again. The teacher was amazed and said how strong he was for his age. This kid is going to mobile before we know it. I guess I had better start baby proofing the house. He is just growing up to fast but every new stage is more fun than the last. I can't wait to see what he will do next!

15 weeks!

I can't believe Owen is going to be 15 weeks tomorrow. He is growing so fast and learning new things every day. Below are some of the things he can do.
  • Talk - he says goo, agoo, gert, boop and many other sounds
  • Squeals - he loves to squeal and he keeps getting louder
  • Giggle - he is just now starting to giggle and the sound makes my heart melt
  • Scoot - he can push his head up and lift his torso. He also pulls his legs up under his tushie and propels his body forward.
  • Smile - he loves to smile at everyone!
  • Kick - I think his favorite thing is to lay on his back and kick his way around in a circle. He will use the bars on his play mat to push his feet off of to turn his body around.
  • Drool - he is drooling like crazy and likes to make raspberry noises with his spit.
  • Chew - anything and everything goes in his mouth. His hands are always up at his face. He grabs his toys and is starting to chew on teething rings.
  • Splash - the past week, bath time has become splash time. He has discovered that kicking and waving his arms makes water go everywhere. This is fun.

Owen's Baptism

Owen was baptized at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on November 28th. We arrived at the church early so I could feed him hoping he would not be fussy during the service. He was an angel. He was wide awake when they splashed the water on his head. Pastor Brian took him from me to walk him down the aisle and meet the congregation. As soon as I handed Owen over, he pooped and it was not quiet. Erik and I both giggled and Pastor Brian just smiled. Something we will always remember!

We had family and friends over to the house afterward for lunch. Thanks to my family and Renee for helping me with everything while I was nursing the guest of honor. It was a wonderful day and we were so glad that everyone was able to spend time with Owen.

Mommy is Sad

Sorry I have not been posting lately. For some reason, wireless is not working at our house. And when I am not taking care of O, I have been catching up on the 500+ emails from work. Now that I am in the office Monday, Wednesday and Friday I will have more time to catch up on my blog.

Today was Owen's first time at daycare. Erik and I went by on Monday to meet the teachers since Erik had not seen the place. I thought I was going to be able to be strong but I lost it on Monday, cried all day Tuesday at home with Owen and did not want to let him go when I dropped him off this morning. One of the babies in there was screaming his head off. Owen was just sitting on the boppy perfectly happy. He just smiled at me telling me that he was going to be okay. He is such a good little boy!

I have already cried several times at work but I have been super busy so it helps take my mind off of him. I will probably work until early afternoon and then pick him up. I don't think I can handle a full day yet.

Most of my recent pictures are on my Mom's camera and they are out of town. I will get them from her and post some pics from Christmas. He is growing so fast!

This was Owen in his hospital gown at Scottish Rite. Another day that I lost it!
