Eat Your Vegetables

Owen had his first taste of vegetables this weekend. I made some sweet potatoes and carrots in my new Beaba Babycook. I love this machine! It is so easy to use and takes no time at all. I made several 2 oz. servings to freeze for later. The baby books and websites say that they might only eat a spoonful or two the first time they eat. Well, Owen ate the entire container. He was sucking on his lips and making his mmmmm sound. I don't think we are going to have any problems getting this kid to eat. I took another serving to daycare this morning so hopefully he will do well for them.

Da da da da (We are working on Ma ma ma ma)

Bouncy - The teachers at daycare said he is the only kid who can bounce in the chair and really keep it going. He loves those chairs and just kicks his chubby little legs.

On the Move

This little one is mobile. If you put him on the ground at one end of the room, he will roll around until he is at the other end. It is such a fun thing to watch. He is trying so hard to learn how to crawl. He can push himself up with his arms while on his stomach. And he gets his knees tucked under him. But then all he knows how to do is roll over. He wakes up the mornings talking to himself and kicking his body around in circles in his crib. I never know how I am going to find him after sleeping. I am excited for him to start crawling. I guess we should start baby proofing our house soon!

 Rolling Over

Owen loves (to eat) this mirror and will just laugh at his reflection.

Big Smiles

The picture above reminded me of one of my baby pictures. Any resemblance?

Talk Talk Talk

Starting Wednesday of last week, Owen has really started "talking." He says da da, ba ba and occasionally ma ma. I have not captured a good video of it yet but once he starts talking, he will go on for an hour. He usually chatters the entire way home from daycare and on our walks around the neighborhood. He talks during his bath and in the mornings when I am getting ready. I wake up to him talking to himself in his crib. I am so glad that he wakes up happy. It is the sweetest alarm to hear in the morning. Sorry this video is so dark but I was afraid he would stop if I moved.

I tried to get a video of the sounds he makes when he is eating. It is the cutest thing. He makes a sound every time he takes a bite like yum! Every single bite. I love it. Perhaps when Erik is home I can get a better shot. It was kind of hard to feed him and record at the same time.

Rolling

Owen rolled over from front to back and back to front on Saturday, February 26th. He also cut his first tooth on Sunday, February 27th. Both of these things happened while visiting Gram & Grumps at the lake. Owen now has his two bottom teeth and they are sharp! If you put your hands close to his face, he will pull your fingers into his mouth and chew. It is quite painful but I imagine cutting teeth does not feel very good either.

Holding On

I work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays to save some money on daycare. We are going to change this in a few months but it is so nice for now. Until last Thursday when we had a very important meeting suddenly get scheduled at 2pm. I found out at 10:30am. So I packed up Owen and took him to the office with me. He had fun visiting everyone and rolling around the floor with his toys. After the meeting, I was working on the computer and he was talking to himself. All of a sudden he got really quiet. He had fallen asleep with his hands on his rattle. It was so cute and he slept like that for over an hour. I guess work really is exhausting.

Owen usually takes a nap on the way to daycare in the mornings. He loves to hold on to his toys while he sleeps.

It's Cereal Time

I have a lot of catching up to do on the blog. We fed Owen cereal for the first time on Saturday. I am not sure if he liked it. What do you think?

He is so cute when he is eating. He kind of moans when he is ready for you to feed him. And then once he swallows, he just grins at you. He is now eating thick rice cereal two times a day. He slept for 9 hours Wednesday night and 10 hours Thursday night. Woo-hoo! I am very excited about this stage. We are going to try oatmeal this weekend and then introduce fruits & veggies into the mix in the next few weeks.
