The Bertus

I am so glad we adopted Bert. He is just such a good dog. He loves to snuggle with us, play with his squeaky toys and go on long walks around the neighborhood. He really loves going to the lake to visit Aunt Ivy. They are allowed to roam free to explore the woods and water. I know he is going to be so gentle and sweet when the baby arrives. We have been playing babies crying sounds and it doesn't even seem to phase him. I can't wait for Lentil and Bert to meet. They are going to love each other so much!

30 Weeks

I went to the doctor on Wednesday and everything was fine. I am measuring correctly and the heartbeat was normal. My next check-up is in 2 weeks.

How far along: 30 1/2 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: More than I had hoped but I am still within the range.

How big is the baby: Around 3 pounds and 16 inches long.

Sleep: Limited with several interruptions for a potty break.

Best Moment: Having Erik talk to the belly. He sings songs to the baby and it is so cute!

Food Cravings: Still not really craving anything specific.

Belly Button: In...for now.

Stretch Marks: Still none.

Maternity Clothes: My Mom went shopping with me for a few new dresses for baby showers. I can't wait to wear them!

What I miss: Feeling somewhat attractive.

Looking forward to: I have a baby showers coming up and I am so excited to see all of my friends and family!

I have not been good about taking pictures of myself as the pregnancy progresses. I think it is because I don't like the way that I look. This is a picture of me at 30 weeks from San Diego.

Miss You San Diego

Erik and I went to San Diego Thursday morning and came back Tuesday night. We had a great time and the weather out there was amazing! We went to the zoo which was huge and so much fun. We drove across the Coronado Bridge, shopped in the town and walked through the Hotel Del although we did not see any ghosts. We toured the USS Midway and saw the owner of Tophat Soccer's flight squadron where the club name originated. We toured several ships at the Maritime Museum including two submarines and the ship where the movie Master & Commander was filmed. We went to the Del Mar Horse Track and won some money picking El Scorpio to win in the 6th. We ate at some delicious restaurants including George's, Poseidon and two Triple D recommendations - El Indio (best Mexican food ever and I don't like Mexican) and Hodad's Burgers (best onion rings and shakes). Even though the soccer teams did not win, it was well worth the trip. Hopefully, we can go back again soon!

We have a nursery!

Some of our nursery furniture came into the store on Friday. Erik and my Dad picked it up on Saturday morning while my Mom and I went shopping. I thought that was a fair trade. When we got home, the nursery was set up with the crib, dresser and combo. We are still waiting on the hutch and the chair which are supposed to be in by the end of the month. My Mom had the fabrics with her so we could decide how to make the bumper, crib skirt, etc. The pattern looks great with the furniture! I love the bright colors and the animals. I am not sure we have room for a painting on the walls now since the crib is quite large. Perhaps we can just hang some pictures or incorporate color some other way. I will post a picture tonight.

I am so excited how the nursery is coming together. I find myself just standing in the room imagining what it will be like when it is fully decorated and the baby arrives. Hopefully, less than 11 weeks left. Can you believe it?

Mini-Vacation

Erik's soccer team has a tournament next weekend in San Diego. What a great opportunity for a vacation! We are leaving Thursday morning and coming back Tuesday evening. I truly can't wait. Although I will have to work while I am there, at least I can do it in the salty Pacific ocean air. We are staying at Torrey Pines and plan on going to the zoo, La Jolla, Del Mar and of course visit with Josh. Any other recommendations? This will be our last trip before the baby arrives and we are going to take full advantage. Plus, we need to celebrate our 2 year anniversary since we did house renovations on the actual day.

So Little Time

I can't believe I am already in my third trimester. Where has the time gone? I have this incredibly huge list of things that need to get done before the baby arrives. Instead of crossing things off, it only seems to increase in size. The number one thing I have to do it get a new bra. This quad boob look has got to go! Luckily, my Mom and I are going shopping on Saturday & I already have my appointment at Intimacy.

We still do not have our nursery furniture so the room just looks depressing. I think once we get that room setup I will feel much more prepared. It should be coming in soon, I hope. We have not bought our new car yet although I think we have decided on a Nissan Pathfinder. I am not sure what we are waiting for except the best deal and time to get it done.

I finally scheduled meet-and-greet/interviews with 3 pediatrician offices that were recommended by my doctor and friends. I have also signed us up for Childbirth Prep and Baby Essentials through the hospital. And my glucose test came back normal so I have a very slim chance of developing gestational diabetes.

Yoga is tonight and I can't wait. It has been quite a stressful week so far.

Finally...a new table

I bought a cheap glass top table from Wal-Mart when I moved into my single apartment in Midtown. It was just supposed to be a temporary solution for a kitchen table. It moved with me to our apartment near Lenox since we had room for a table. Then it moved again to our townhouse into the dining/breakfast area. When Erik and I bought our house in November, we finally got some new furniture including a nice dining room table. But we still had a breakfast nook area that needed a table. So the Wal-Mart special stayed once again.

After constantly catching my toes on the sides, wobbling in the unsteady chairs, and repeatedly cleaning the glass top - I was over it. Fortunately, Erik's sister works for Haverty's. We found a gathering table that matches our dining room table. She was nice enough to order it for us last week and as well as pick it up for us since it will not fit in our cars. I am so excited and can't wait to finally so goodbye to the old table. We have had a long but tremulous relationship and it is just time for us to part ways. So long old friend!

Nursery

I think we have finally decided on a theme for the nursery. We are going with a Caribbean jungle theme. My Mom found this adorable fabric collection. I love the bright colors! She is going to make us a bumper, crib skirt, quilt, valence and chair pillow. We are most likely going to leave the walls taupe but paint a few features around the crib. I have a vision of what I want it to look like in my head. I just hope we can make it happen. I consider myself a pretty creative person but unfortunately I am not artistic at all.

Doctor Update - Glucose Test

I went to the doctor yesterday morning and had to drink the sugar drink. Camille was right and it just taste like super sweet Gatorade/Kool-Aid. It was not bad but halfway through I started feeling sick. Just too much sugar but it definitely made the baby kick! I will find out the results of the blood work in a few days. Everything else was fine. I had gained a little more weight in the past 4 weeks than the previous 4 weeks but I know Lentil has had a big growth spurt. The baby is definitely sitting up higher now in my belly which of course makes everyone say it is a girl. The heartbeat was around 140 bpm's which is good. I go back in 3 weeks and then it is every 2 weeks. I can't believe we are getting so close!

27 Weeks

A girl in my sorority started doing this on her blog. I thought it would be fun to look back on this after the baby is born. Hopefully, I can keep up with it and do it every week or so.

How far along: 27 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: I will let you know next week when I visit the doctor. Or maybe not...

How big is the baby: Around 2 pounds and 14 1/2 inches long

Sleep: I am having a very difficult time sleeping. I want to sleep on my back. I have wedges and pillows piled up to prevent me from rolling. I still somehow manage to get on my back and then I wake up. It is a vicious cycle.

Best Moment: Feeling Lentil move all the time. He/She is one active little monkey!

Food Cravings: I really don't have any cravings right now. If anything, nothing really sounds good to me. I hope this changes soon!

Belly Button: In but I have a feeling it might pop at some point. I can feel the knot being pushed.

Stretch Marks: None and I really hope it stays this way. I have been a moisturizing queen.

Maternity Clothes: Loving them. They are incredibly comfortable although I am sure I have bought too many.

What I miss: Laying on my stomach and not completely hating every picture of me.

Looking forward to: Decorating the nursery. Our furniture should be in soon and I finally picked out a theme. I will post my ideas soon.

Happy 4th!

Rainbow = Happy

I saw a beautiful rainbow on the way to tennis on Tuesday. It made me smile so I thought I would share it.
